Restructure puts ORB on course for expansion

ORB group CEO, Stewart Olsen, provides an update on the organisational restructure and future plan to keep growing the company.

As the business continues to expand, I want to provide an update on the organisation’s restructure that will allow us to stay on this exciting growth path.

Restructuring was imperative to allow the business to grow sustainably whilst retaining control and supporting our staff and clients in the best possible way.

It has also allowed us to review internal processes. As a business we should always be reviewing and reflecting on our work and thinking of ways to better serve our candidates and clients. Our review highlighted a number of areas where we can improve and we will be taking steps to make these processes more efficient and effective.

As part of the restructure, my title has changed from managing director to group CEO. This reflects the continued expansion of ORB and our development of sub-brands to service our specialist sectors and service offerings. For example, Executive Recruitment, Healthcare and Construction and Civils and Industrial.

In continuing to grow, I’m thrilled to say several key internal staff will be promoted to take the next steps in their careers. Some senior opportunities will also become available for external applicants.

It’s fair to say 2021 was a bit of a mixed bag! Not only in recruitment, but virtually all industries.

Despite that uncertainty, and the ongoing impact from Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic, ORB has continued to thrive. We revised our year-end forecast, with both revenue and profit surpassing expectations. Compared to 2020, we grew 170% Year-On-Year (YOY).

This year started with an important milestone – a move into a larger, modern building in Balby with more suitable facilities for our staff and the services we offer.

We now have a dedicated training and induction room and have further invested in technology to support staff and clients. With capacity for up to 35 staff, this is a space where we can go to the next level as a team.

The 2022 financial year is already looking positive. Should we continue on our current trajectory, we are in line to secure more than £10 million in revenue. That would represent a significant achievement for ORB.

We are on an exciting journey and will be looking for even more great people to join us. If we keep going on this path, we will be "opening the flood gates" for trainee and experienced consultants to join the business and be part of the next step.
