For businesses across the world, 2020 has been one of the most challenging years of recent times. In our latest blog from Orb managing director Stewart Olsen, we share more about how we’ve been adapting as a business and supporting those who are, unfortunately, going through the process of redundancy.
Though the recruitment industry has felt the reverberations of the pandemic, we have observed growth in the healthcare sector as well as in manufacturing and production, construction and engineering industries.
Since we started trading in 2018, our team has been working exceptionally hard to build a robust business with strong foundations that have helped us to grow despite the challenges of this year. We were grateful and proud to report a 100 percent increase in turnover, rising from £1m in 2018/19 to £2.4m in 2019/20. Current forecasts have the business tracking to do £6.5M in the next 12 months.
This has meant we’ve been able to implement some exciting plans at ORB Recruitment. These have included moving to a more suitable space for our team, bringing in three new team members with varied experience taking us up to a total of 11 staff, entering some key new sectors and soon we will be relaunching our website.
Throughout this, we also felt that it was important to play a role in helping people in Doncaster, and the wider South Yorkshire region, to get back on their feet wherever we could as it has proved to be such a difficult time for so many. So, we decided to launch our free Redundancy Support Service which aims to work with organisations to help staff who are going through a redundancy process.
The initiative is part of our corporate social responsibility programme and provides a dedicated, site-based point of contact for employers that their staff can access to help them through what can be a very turbulent time and enhance their prospects for future employment.
Any business in Doncaster or the wider region which is in the position of having to make employees redundant is able to access the scheme, which offers one-to-one advice on topics such as employee rights during redundancy, what to expect throughout the process, financial planning and budgeting, mental health awareness, CV and interview tops and much more.
We are working with both Doncaster Chamber and Club Doncaster to make the service as widely known about as possible throughout the local business community.
As business continues to develop for ORB, we remain dedicated to the wider business community and will continue to support them.
