Hardworking students rewarded at specialist college

ORB managing director Stewart Olsen has visited a Doncaster specialist learning centre for young people with autism to celebrate the achievements of high-achieving students.

Stewart presented awards at the end of year prize day at Harrison College, a specialist business, enterprise and employability college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autism and special educational needs.

The special ethos prizes, which were sponsored by ORB Recruitment, were presented to students who embodied the college's principals of lead, believe, achieve and exceed.

Students were awarded academic certificates and a gift from the college that will help them in their new jobs or internships.

Based in a professional business park, Harrison College offers a curriculum designed to maximise the potential of all young people with learning difficulties, including those with high functioning autism and Asperger’s syndrome.

The college, established in 2019, focuses on preparing young people for adult life, offering employability skills, work experience, social skills and life skills. The organisation was named Business Start Up of the Year at the Doncaster Chamber Business Awards and this year won Specialist College of the Year with Prestige Awards.

ORB team members have previously delivered motivational talks at the college and earlier this year we donated a minibus to accelerate opportunities for Harrison College students.

Stewart said: "It's always a pleasure to collaborate with Harrison College and I was thrilled to attend the end of year prize day and congratulate all the students on their fantastic achievements.

"ORB are proud to be part of the Doncaster community and committed to supporting local organisations whose values align with our own.

"We are especially passionate about encouraging students and young people who face additional challenges to reach their potential, so look forward to continuing to work closely with Harrison College in the future."
